Clean Water Awareness Campaign

The Clean Water Awareness Campaign (CWAC) will be launched on March 22, 2025, on World Water Day by Bikram Jha, the founder of Jeevan Darshan Foundation (JDF). This initiative is part of JDF's Green India Project and Climate Resilience Project, in collaboration with the Center for Climate Change & Environment Protection (CCCEP) & School of sustainability. CWAC focuses on addressing the global water crisis by promoting sustainable water practices, ensuring access to clean water, and safeguarding water resources for future generations.

Why Clean Water Matters

Clean water is essential for life, yet billions of people worldwide face water scarcity and contamination. Here are the facts:

  • Global Water Crisis: Over 2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water (UNICEF).
  • Waterborne Diseases: Contaminated water causes nearly 485,000 deaths annually from diseases like cholera and dysentery (WHO).
  • Water Scarcity: By 2025, half of the world’s population is expected to live in water-stressed areas (UN).
  • India’s Challenge:
    • 600 million Indians face high-to-extreme water stress (NITI Aayog).
    • 21 major cities, including Delhi and Bengaluru, may run out of groundwater soon.
  • Economic Impact: Water scarcity could reduce GDP by up to 6% in some regions by 2050 (World Bank).
