Crises in Human Consciousness

As Told by our Founder Bikram Jha

To truly understand the work of Jeevan Darshan Foundation (JDF) and why we began, it is essential to recognize the profound crisis in human consciousness that the world is currently facing.

The outward destruction we witness—be it environmental degradation, social unrest, or inequality—is a direct reflection of our inner conflicts, lack of self-awareness, and absence of self-knowing.

Below, we have outlined these challenges briefly. We invite you to explore and understand the essence of this issue.

What is Human Consciousness?

Human consciousness is the sum of our thoughts, emotions, experiences, memories, and beliefs. It shapes how we perceive the world and ourselves.

According to Our Founder consciousness is rooted in fear, desires, conflicts, and conditioning from society, culture, and upbringing. It is a shared psychological structure that connects all humanity.

What is the Crisis in Human Consciousness?

The crisis lies in this shared consciousness. Our conditioned minds are trapped in conflict, comparison, greed, violence, Hate and fear, creating divisions and chaos in society.

This inward crisis reflects outwardly as environmental destruction, social inequality, and war. Bikram emphasizes that without Self Knowing, transforming our consciousness, humanity cannot resolve the external crises we face today.

JDF Guiding Truth

At the heart of Jeevan Darshan Foundation lies a simple yet profound truth: the crises we see in the world—violence, division, and suffering—are mere reflections of the crisis within us. The root of disorder is the ‘I’—the illusion of separateness, the endless pursuit of power, comparison, and fear.

True transformation is not found in external reforms but in an inner revolution. Only through deep awareness of how the ‘I’ operates can we dissolve conflict and bring about real change. This understanding is the foundation of JDF’s work, guiding all our efforts toward a world of clarity, love, and a completely new way of living.

The Way Forward

True change begins with self-awareness & Self Knowing . By observing and understanding ourselves, we can break free from conditioning, fostering love, compassion, and unity.

The Crises

  • Mass Extinction
    • The world is experiencing its 6th mass extinction.
  • Species at Risk
    • Over 1 million species face extinction due to the impacts of climate change.
  • Population Decline
    • Populations of amphibians, birds, fish, mammals, and reptiles have dropped by an average of 68% between 1970 and 2016.
  • Tropical Rainforest Loss
    • Every day, 80,000 acres of tropical rainforests are lost, contributing to biodiversity decline.
  • Human Vulnerability
    • Approximately 800 million people worldwide are vulnerable to climate change impacts such as droughts, floods, heat waves, sea level rise, and extreme weather events.
