JDF Farmer Training Program

The JDF Farmer Training Program focuses on sustainable agriculture with the main objective of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA). This program aims to empower farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by equipping them with skills and knowledge in natural farming techniques that are chemical-free and eco-friendly.

Program Highlights

  1. End-to-End Support: Assistance for farmers in adopting sustainable practices.
  2. Natural Farming Techniques: Training in chemical-free, organic farming methods that enhance soil fertility.
  3. Pilot Project: Currently being implemented in 5 villages in Darbhanga, Bihar, India.
  4. Research & Development: Through the JDF Research Center, we explore innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture.

The program was officially launched on December 23, 2024 (National Farmers’ Day) by the Center for Agriculture & Rural Development (CARD) under JDF, in association with the School of Sustainability (SOS). It was inaugurated by JDF Founder Bikram Jha and CARD Central Director Aman Raj.

Why We Started This Program

The agriculture sector faces severe challenges, and this program is designed to address key issues such as:
  • Soil Degradation: Excessive chemical use has led to depleted soil fertility.
  • Health Risks: Pesticides and chemicals pose serious threats to farmers and consumers.
  • Climate Change: Unsustainable farming practices contribute to global warming and resource depletion.
  • Waste Disposal Issues: Agricultural waste management is a growing concern.
Our Vision

The program aims to revolutionize agriculture by promoting eco-friendly and climate-resilient farming practices. This approach not only ensures environmental sustainability but also improves farmer livelihoods and public health.

Future Goals

The pilot program will run for 3 years, after which a detailed review will be conducted. Based on the results and recommendations, the program will be scaled to a macro level by JDF to benefit more communities.

Call for Support

This long-term program requires substantial resources, collaboration, and commitment. We invite all stakeholders to join us in transforming agriculture for a sustainable future.
