JDF Women Empowerment Project

we believe that empowering women is key to building strong, resilient communities with an mission to empower 100,000 women in the next five years. Launched on International Women's Day, March 8, by our Founder Bikram Jha and Aman Raj, Central Director of CARD, The JDF Women Empowerment Project is dedicated to transforming the lives of women across rural and semi-urban areas of India.

Why We Focus on Women Empowerment ?

Despite significant progress, women worldwide still face inequality and limited opportunities. Did you know?

  • Globally, 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime.
  • Women account for only 39% of the global labor force.
  • In rural India, nearly 50% of women lack access to basic education and skills.

These challenges not only limit individual potential but also hinder the progress of entire communities. Empowering women isn’t just about improving their lives; it’s about fostering economic growth, enhancing social cohesion, and reducing poverty for all.

Our Approach

Through collaboration with the Center for Agriculture & Rural Development (CARD) and the Center for Life Education & Spirituality (CLES), the JDF Women Empowerment Project adopts a holistic approach to empowerment.

  • Self-Defense Training: Equipping women with skills to protect themselves and boost their confidence.
  • Self-Awareness & Self-Knowing Workshops: Helping women discover their inner strength and potential.
  • Legal Awareness Programs: Educating women about their rights and providing guidance on legal recourse.
  • Maithila Painting & Local Art Training: Preserving cultural heritage while creating income-generating opportunities.
  • Government Schemes Assistance: Raising awareness and providing support to access welfare programs.
  • Formation of Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs): Encouraging collective action for financial and social empowerment.
  • Skill Development Programs: Training women in sewing, Makhana processing, computer literacy, digital skills, and handmade crafts.
  • Employment Creation: Generating local employment opportunities tailored to women's skills and interests.
  • Education & Skill Development: Providing essential knowledge and vocational skills to enhance employability.
