Launched on National Farmers' Day, December 23, 2022, the JDF Farmer Welfare Project is an initiative under the Center for Agriculture & Rural Development (CARD) of JDF . This project addresses the pressing issues faced by farmers and focuses on sustainable agriculture, natural farming, and permaculture.
Why We Started This Project
The farming community is grappling with severe challenges, including:
- Farmer Suicides: Over 10,000 farmer suicides are reported annually in India due to financial distress and debt traps.
- Declining Interest in Farming: The younger generation is increasingly moving away from agriculture due to its unprofitability and lack of resources.
- Environmental Damage: Excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has led to soil degradation, biodiversity loss, and reduced crop productivity.
- Market Challenges: Farmers often lack market linkages, leading to exploitation by intermediaries and financial instability.

- JDF Farmer Training Program: Providing hands-on training in sustainable and natural farming practices.
- Agricultural Guidance for Sustainable Farming (AGSF): Expert advice to transition toward eco-friendly and efficient farming methods.
