Reviving the Lifeline of India
The JDF Clean Ganga Project was launched in response to the increasing pollution of the Ganga River, one of the most sacred and vital rivers in India. Recognizing its environmental and cultural significance, the project aims to address the issue of river pollution with a practical and community-driven approach.
This initiative is carried out in partnership with the Center for Climate Change & Environment Protection (CCCEP) under JDF. The project began its operations in Bihar, with the starting point at Patna, and focuses on creating a sustainable impact on the health of the Ganga River.
How We Do It
Our efforts are guided by a simple, structured process to ensure effective results:
-
Awareness Campaigns:
- We conduct large-scale awareness sessions in local communities to educate people about river pollution, its impact on health, and the importance of preserving the Ganga River.
-
Clean-Up Drives:
- With the help of a large group of volunteers, we organize regular clean-up drives along the banks of the Ganga.
- Volunteers actively collect waste and garbage accumulated near the river.
-
Collaboration with Local Authorities:
- The waste collected during the drives is handed over to local municipal corporations.
- For instance, in Patna, we work closely with the Patna Municipal Corporation, which ensures proper disposal through their waste management systems.
-
Stakeholder Partnerships:
- We collaborate with various stakeholders, including local communities, NGOs, government bodies, and private organizations, to expand the reach and impact of the project.
Impact So Far
The JDF Clean Ganga Project has created a significant positive impact since its inception. Here are some of the milestones achieved:
- 100+ Clean-Up Drives conducted along the Ganga River.
- 200+ Awareness Sessions to educate local communities.
- Tons of Waste Collected and Properly Disposed of through collaborations with municipalities.
- Mobilized thousands of volunteers to actively participate in the mission.
